The CFA Program is a self-study professional financial qualification that is held in the highest regard. It is offered by the CFA Institute, and involves a lot of dedication on the part of candidates in the program in order to achieve success. Full details of the CFA Program is available at the CFA Institute website. (http://www.cfainstitute.org/cfaprog/index.html)

The CFA Institute recommends a minimum of 250 hours of study in preparation for each level of the exam. The number of hours you will need depends on your background and experience. We recommend that you start six months in advance of the exam to give you a good chance of success, with an average of two hours per day for a total of 360 hours per level (six months is approximately 180 days). The last month should be used mainly as a review month, practising past exams, taking sample exams and doing mock exams in anticipation of the examination in June (levels I, II and III) or December (level I only).

We recommend that you read the six books provided by the CFA Institute that form the curriculum from cover-to-cover, learning and practising all the questions in the books that form the curriculum. This enables you to have a good overview of the whole program while enhancing your learning experience. We can assist you in further understanding those areas of the curriculum that you may find challenging.

You may find study guides useful as a supplement to the curriculum, but we recommend that you do not use them as a substitute to the official curriculum from the CFA institute.
